The Name derives from the Greek word Kymation that in ancient it was reported to the spiral element of the ionic capital.
This family consists of medium to very large shells. Active predators of echinoderms, molluscs, worms, the cymatiidae are characterized by a high spire, often with embryonic turns of different color.
