Description

Rare and fantastic example of Amber Butterscotch from the Kalingrad region in Russia.
This variety of Amber has a diversity of colors compared to other specimens which makes it highly sought after and expensive.
In nature there are about 250 shades of natural amber, from cognac shades (the most common) to white, but only the Butterstoch has a mix of colors of milky white and creamy yellow.
It is often also identified with the name of Royal Amber or Ancient Amber.

The reason for its distinctive color is due to the presence of millions of tiny bubbles trapped inside the resin from the trees it once lay on. From tests carried out with an electron microscope, it has been shown that Amber Butterscotch is made up of transparent resin and millions of micro bubbles inside which, reflecting the light, return this fantastic milky color.
