Description

This magnificent specimen of “Sun” azurite comes from the renowned Malbunka mines in Australia, a location famous among collectors for the exceptional quality of its crystals. On the contrasting whiteness of the matrix develop spectacular crystalline rosettes of azurite, in the typical intense and velvety blue color, arranged radially and clearly distinguishable in shape and size.
The fibrous-radial structures of the rosettes, well centered and undamaged, show a dense and compact crystalline texture, with a natural play of light that enhances every detail of the mineral. The colors range from deep sapphire blue to electric blue, with chromatic variations that reflect the very high quality of the specimen.
Mineralogically speaking, azurite is a secondary copper carbonate that forms in oxidized zones of copper ore deposits. The “Sun” variety is especially prized for its flat concentric disks, brilliant color, and the rare radial aesthetic.
A display piece that combines aesthetic value and scientific significance, ideal for museum-grade collections or anyone wishing to add a striking specimen to their mineral showcase.
