Description

This outstanding specimen comes from the famous Kruchev Dol mine, located in the Madan mining district in the southern Rhodope Mountains of Bulgaria. This area is internationally renowned for producing collector-grade pyrite and quartz crystals, often associated with galena, sphalerite, and chalcopyrite.
The specimen is characterized by an impressive crystalline mass, where bright golden-metallic pyrite crystals intertwine with perfectly formed rock crystal quartz. The pyrite displays well-developed cubic and subcubic crystal habits, with intense natural luster and a distribution that covers and embraces the quartz terminations, creating a unique visual effect.
The Kruchev Dol mine has been active since the mid-20th century and is located in one of the oldest and richest mining districts in Eastern Europe. Specimens from this site are highly valued for their aesthetics and the harmonious combination of minerals. The mine’s hydrothermal conditions allowed for the formation of transparent crystals, with free growth and no surface alteration.
This specimen represents a perfect synthesis of natural beauty and mineralogical interest, ideal for expert collectors, museum displays, or as a high-impact decorative element in refined settings.
