Description

Precious jade carvings depicting the statues of 2 Chinese imperial lions.
First choice specimens made with high craftsmanship and attention to detail.
The Chinese imperial lions or guardian lions, are part of the ancient Chinese culture and have the task of protecting the building they are placed in defense of, both from negative spiritual influences and from malicious people.
The lions represent a male and a female (recognizable because under her paw there is a lion cub).
The meaning of these figures are respectively power and strength, and nourishment and the cycle of life.
Wealthy families used to have these very large lions sculpted and were placed at the entrance to their mansion.
Given the high cost of the mineral and manufacturing, they also took on a symbol of family wealth or social status.
These specimens are made of jade extracted from the mines of Myanmar (formerly Burma), a cultural center with great spiritual heritage.
